Josephine Sue Brothers
After a 12 year, courageous fight with breast cancer, Joey passed away August 5, 2008, at home, surrounded by family and friends. Joey was born Aug. 18, 1949 in Seattle to Malcolm and Irene Powell. After graduation from Franklin HS, she went on to become a medical transcriber and bookkeeper. She traveled to Europe, lived in New Zealand, then returned home and worked at Nordstrom for 22 years, retiring 2003. Joey loved anything vintage. As a talented craftswoman she was accomplished in all forms of yarn and fabric arts; she especially loved making quilts and crocheting baby blankets, but was best known for the dolls she named Hope and Faith. She started making them while recovering from surgery, selling and donating proceeds to breast cancer research. Her line included bracelets which were sold in many stores across the country, including Nordstrom. She donated more than $30,000 to battle breast cancer. Joey loved her home, family, many friends, and most of all her husband Ron who survives her, sister Judi Mutal (Mike), her sons Dwynn Nyquist (Kristi), and Ron Brothers Jr, (Amanda), 4 grandchildren and many cousins who mourn her passing. She was a shining light, always joyful, spirited and dearly loved by all. A Celebration of her Life will be held Aug. 16th 2 pm at Greenwood Memorial Park, Renton. Reception to follow.
